For all the heavy duty action gamers out there, the news of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain being released soon must be as exciting as a shiny bright cycle is to a kid on Christmas. But with the date set at around 1st September, the fans will be getting impatient and looking for ways to catch a sneak peek at the game or try and get as much of the game as they possibly can before the big day.
Konami, the games publisher, has set out to get the best possible publicity for the game before its release so that the fans can get a hold of some merchandise. They have teamed up with Sony and produced a phone dedicated to the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain theme. Well, they haven’t really made a new phone so much they have amped up the Sony Xperia J1 Compact and called it The Phantom Pain Edition which will be a new launch mobile phone and is definitely going to grab some attention. What the phone brings to its Metal Gear Solid fans is a logo on the back panel that says “Outer Heaven” which is only obviously taken from the game. Some other additions are a wallpaper that matches the Metal Gear Solid V theme, a ringtone that is customized for the game and a couple of tracks from the game as well. If that is not enough to get the fanatics jumping out of their seats, then maybe the phone specifications will.
The Xperia J1 Compact holds a 4.3 inch HD display which might sound a bit small to play games on, but it is surprisingly brilliant. The clarity and brightness is something that users will get attracted to immediately. With a 16GB internal memory which can be expanded via SD, there is more than enough space to hold your favorite Metal Gear games and many more. The quad core (Snapdragon 800) processor clocks in at 2.2 GHz and provides the phone with enough speed for a non-interrupted experience. When teamed up with the 2GB of RAM, the Xperia J1’s performance goes from good to excellent. Housed in the phone is a 20.7 megapixel camera that shoots images with the clarity that only a Sony can provide. The only con amongst the many pro’s for this device is the battery power which is an “OK” 2300 mAh. The price which is set at around 31,400 rupees could be another hurdle that some people might have to jump over to get their hands on this device.
Getting back to the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain topic, Sony has decided that that this would be a good opportunity to advertise some of their other products such as the Z4 Tablet, the Z3 Tablet Compact and the NW-A16 and the NW-ZX2 Walkman MP3 music players which will all sport the Metal Gear theme and customizable features.
